Unique in its folding design, the No.09 Oyster Knife was designed to safely stow away, making it easy to carry - whether that’s on a boat, or in your pocket as you head to the beach. With a short, robust blade the unique design centers the knife’s axis to facilitate easy oyster opening. Thanks to the Virobloc locking ring, it will stay closed when you want it to, and open when you need it to! While Opinel is known for its signature sharp blades, this knife features a blunted blade with a sharp tip, specific to oyster shucking. The padouk wood handle is resistant to swelling, and utilized for its ability to hold up well in humid or wet environments. Both smart and simple, the Opinel folding knife is composed of 5 elements: the blade, the wooden handle, the fixed ferrule, the rivet and the rotating VIROBLOC locking ring which was added in 1955 to sizes No.06 and above. The knife is equipped with a 2.5 inch blade, open length 7.2 inches. All Opinel wooden-handle knives are not designed to be washed in the dishwasher. Heat and moisture will cause any wood to swell which will make the knife hard to open at times. Opinel suggests carefully hand-washing your knives and leaving them out to air dry.
