Sponge filter uses bubbles of air from an external air pump, or an integral water pump to draw water through the sponge. The sponge need to be rinsed about every 2 to 4 weeks. It’s helpful to wash the sponge gently with water from the fish tank instead of tap water. It is good to replace the sponge after 3 to 6 months’ usage as the holes of sponge is gradually clogged by the tiny debris. Constructed with detachable parts allows you to easily take it apart for cleaning or replacement. The air chamber produces tiny bubbles which increase the oxygen solubility of water. Air Pump Not Included. Helpful to wash the sponge gently with water from the fish tank instead of tap water. To silence the filter, you can use the provided small air tube to connect the filter and the control valve. The other end of the control valve should be connected to your air pump with a standard 3/16” air tube. Note that the standard 3/16” air tube and air pump are not included. IMPORTANT: Our tube can’t be connected directly to your air pump as the outlet size of your air pump may be incompatible with this air tube.
